Boston-based Liberty Mutual Group is planning to lay off approximately 850 of its staff, a spokesperson for the insurer has confirmed.

Nearly all the layoffs, about 2% of the company’s workforce, will be in the US, according to the spokesperson, who added that the dismissals will mostly affect employees in Liberty’s US retail markets and global risk solutions business units...
