SiriusPoint ‘well-insulated’ from key shareholder CM Bermuda’s debt difficulties: AM Best

Bermudian carrier SiriusPoint’s A- financial strength rating and a- long-term issuer credit rating remain unchanged by ratings agency AM Best following reports that CMIG International Holding — the parent of SiriusPoint’s key shareholder, CM Bermuda — was taken into private receivership by its lenders in Singapore.

Following the merger of Third Point Reinsurance Company and Sirius International Insurance Group in 2021, CM Bermuda’s shareholding and voting rights in SiriusPoint, the resulting company, diminished to 33% and 9.9%,
