Twelve months ago, almost to the day, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the tort reform overhaul into law. Since then, the state has been through the June 1 reinsurance renewal, several Citizens takeouts, some newco formations and Hurricane Idalia.

The reforms are working for claims filed after December 2022, but attorneys are still litigating claims filed prior to the legislation.
